Credentialed Veterinary Technician
Forest Hills Veterinary Clinic is a full-service animal clinic servicing the areas of Ada, Cascade, East Grand Rapids, Forest Hills, and the Southeast Grand Rapids area. We will accept routine care clients as well as those with medical, surgical, and dental issues.

More about the Role
The Credentialed Veterinary Technician performs a critical role in providing high quality care for patients. Credentialed Technicians are key partners to the veterinarians, providing the appropriate support to ensure each client interaction and procedure is seamless and successful. Credentialed Technicians apply their professional skills in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education.
Hours of operation:
Mon-Fri: 8:30 am – 6:00 pm
Weekends: CLOSED
Anticipated Schedule: 4 shifts a week,, no weekends
Pay range: $20 – $23

Essential Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed.
- Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, as well as providing client education.
- Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs of the patient during surgery.
- Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
- Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures.
- Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
- Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
- Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment, and lab areas; restock exam rooms with supplies. Assist other team members to keep the public areas of the practice clean; clean and maintain all medical equipment.
- Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions with clients; exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients.
- Communicate with veterinarians and practice team members including client discussions, patient plans, client concerns, etc.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications
- State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
- Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages
- Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

More about the Role
We are seeking a full time experienced veterinary receptionist for our 2 doctor small animal practice in the Cascade Forest Hills area. Ideal candidate should be comfortable with client education, and posses strong communication skills, as we focus on preventative medicine. Candidate should also be a positive, motivated team player with strong will, be focused, and have the ability to multi-task in a busy environment. Candidate should be detail oriented, and love working with animals and people.
Our goal is to provide the highest quality medicine with compassion and with an emphasis on client education.
Full-time is a 4 day work week, no weekends.

Essential Responsibilities
- Leads practice opening and closing procedures per Practice Manager instructions and practice procedures.
- Ensures all public areas are clean and presentable for patients; cleans and straightens areas including the front desk, reception area, waiting area, office, public bathroom(s) and exam rooms.
- Processes cash, checks, charge card payments and credit account payments.
- Schedules appointments for the clinic adhering to practice and Doctor preferences and ensure appropriate workflow.
- Assists in the updating of client/patient files, as needed.
- Prepares and sends client correspondence.
- Sends reminder notices to clients for periodic notifications; conducts re-calls to clients on a timely basis from a call back list.
- Performs a backup of the computer system on a regular basis, as directed.
- Performs and oversees the performance of posting daily business.
- Welcomes clients and patients to the practice with a warm and friendly demeanor and ensures an excellent experience during the practice visit.
- Answers incoming telephone calls applying proper telephone etiquette.
- Presents clients with medications, instructions, new client kits and any other take home items.
- Handles emergency situations with great care, patience, and following established clinic policies and procedures.
- Addresses client concerns in a calm appropriate manner, ensuring every experience ends in satisfaction.
